A graveside service for Randal Mason “Waldo” Walden, 48, of Kenedy, TX, formerly of Ada will be held at Rosedale Cemetery on Thursday, January 17th at 12:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 2:00pm in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Ada, OK. Aloha or patriotic attire requested.
Randal Mason Walden was born on November 20th, 1970 at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Missouri to Billy E. Walden and Paddy M. (Mason) Walden.
Randy passed from this world on January 3rd, 2019 at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas.
Upon graduating from Ada High School, Randal “Waldo” Walden enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Nimitz during Desert Storm. He later continued his extensive military career as a civilian contractor, where he fought many battles against impossible odds, traveling the world and protecting his country. Waldo, a true jack-of-all-trades, was also occupied as a ‘surfer dude’, offshore welder, radio-tower electrician, cross-country ‘transit-specialist’, and ranch manager throughout his life. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies including surfing, outrigger rowing, parachuting, riflery, listening to lively music and sharing pop-tarts with his dogs.
He leaves behind his parents, Bill and Thellys Walden; his sister, Erin Walden; his brothers, Glen Walden, Greg Oliver and Steven Oliver (Kim); two nephews, Maxwell Walden and Mykuhl Thompson; and three nieces, Serra Thompson, Kelsey Rice (David) and Kenzie Oliver. He is also survived by his four-legged “son”, an english bulldog named BobBo.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Paddy Walden; the woman who helped raised him, Nancy Powell (whom he knew as ‘Key’); and his dogs, Pepper, Polly and Fluffy.
He will forever be remembered as a beloved friend, unlikely hero, indomitable adventurer, and unparalleled storyteller.
He REALLY lived, may he now know peace.
