Services for Carl Gene Wages, 75, of Ada are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Morris Memorial Baptist Church, Rev. Gary Jamar will officiate the service, assisted by Carl’s nephew, Rev. Jared Byrns. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Wages passed away Thursday, February 24, 2017 at a local assisted living center. Carl Gene Wages was born June 1, 1941 in Boswell, OK to Charley and Velma Holcomb Wages. He graduated from Boswell High School in 1959.
Carl’s career included being District Manager of Caterpillar sales and service, owning his own heavy equipment repair and service company and serving twelve years as Pontotoc County Commissioner for District 2, all while he was also farming and ranching.
Carl was an outstanding team roper, winning many trophies and prizes, riding his beloved rodeo horse, “Old Don” who lived to be 39.
Carl looked forward to the annual Wages family reunions where all the Wages gathered for a week-end of fun and sharing. Carl was very involved in community activities, especially supporting area youth involved in farming and ranching and the livestock shows.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Pat; his daughter, Keri Blevins; his brothers, Gerald, Winifred and Tom; and one sister, Shirley Wagoner.
Surviving is his wife, Jerry, of the home; one daughter, Kristi Hayes and husband Kenny of Ada; two brothers, his twin, Charles Wages of Moore and Cliff Wages of Aztec, NM; three sisters, Charlcia Joiner , Huntsville, TX, Joyce Moss, Waco, TX and Lou Little, Granberry, TX; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews and very special loved ones and friends.
Bearers will be his grandsons and nephews.
