Services for Betty Jo Stout, 94, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 8th at the First Baptist Church, Rev. Harold Ware will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Stout passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at her home. She was born September 5, 1923 at Wynnewood to E. F. and Mary Jones Hopkins. After graduating from Madill High School her college studies were interrupted by World War II. She worked in the Long Beach, CA and Tulsa, OK air defense plants as a “Rosie the Riveter”. She then continued her education receiving a bachelor’s degree from Sacramento State in California and a master’s degree from East Central University in Ada.
Betty married Ray L. Stout February 2, 1950. He preceded her in death June 14, 2003. Mrs. Stout taught in Duckwater, Nevada, and Redway and Needles, California. She later taught elementary music in the Ada School System as well as being a private piano teacher.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, a choir member, and a long time children’s choir director. She was involved in many clubs including the Douglas Bible Study, Wednesday Morning Music Club, Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association and the East Central Faculty Wives.
Survivors include four daughters: Mary Roxanne and husband John Gilbreath, Rayda and husband JonPaul Santrach, Marta and husband Steve Allen, and Rhonda and husband Tim Hibbard; two sons, Kelly and wife Tina Stout and Frank Stout and daughter-in-law Janice Stout; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by three brothers and two sisters.
Bearers will be Paul Allen, Adam Stout, Matthew Medcalf, John Stout, Kelly Stout and Frank Stout. Honorary bearers will be John Gilbreath, JonPaul Santrach, Steve Allen, Tim Hibbard, Scott Gilbreath and Pete-Ray Santrach.
