On May 5, 2015, Olga Boza Deschamps, of Ada, formerly of Miami and Key West, Florida, passed from this life to be with the Lord, her parents and her many siblings. She was 101 years of age, a beloved mother, grandmother and mother-in-law who always thought of others before herself. She died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
Olga was a retired seamstress who created sample dresses for the Jonathan Logan clothing line. She was an avid gardener and cook, considering it a compliment when most guests indulged in second helpings of her Hispanic cuisine. She loved the ballet and opera and was extremely proud when her goddaughter/niece, Rosa Biada de Cartaya, performed Bach’s Ave Maria a cappella for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican.
She is survived by a daughter, Dania Deschamps-Braly and her husband, George Braly, both attorneys in Ada; a grandson, Dr. Jordan Deschamps-Braly and wife, Maya Alex of San Francisco, Drs. Sylwester Ratowt and wife, Ryan Fogg, of Gainesville, Georgia and their daughter, Emerson; a niece, Nora Rojas and her sons, Lenny and Rodney Rojas, of Clearwater, Florida.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents, all of her many brothers and sisters as well as her husband, Manuel Deschamps, whom she married on Valentine’s Day 1942.
The family is grateful to Father Billy Lewis of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where Olga was a parishioner and to Father Ray Ackerman, a dear friend, who will be celebrating Mother’s funeral Mass, as well as to the Eucharistic Ministers who visited Mother and brought her Holy Communion every Sunday, and to all the many friends who visited with flowers and comfort. We are especially grateful to Rosanna Anderson, our friend and housekeeper, who provided Mother with love, compassion and care.
