Services for Aminah Nakila Currie, 46, of Ada are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Charlene Parker Blue will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Aminah Nakila Currie was born in Tulsa Oklahoma on August 28, 1976, the second daughter to the union of Martha Mae Richardson-Currie and Jerry Currie-Muhammad. Aminah is the first-born daughter of biological father William Don Cubit. Aminah transited from her Earthly body on June 23, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma surrounded by the love of her family.

Aminah was raised in Ada, Oklahoma where she lived until the time of her departure. Aminah spent her early childhood attending Ada Public Schools and eventually graduating from Byng High School in 1995. She later attended Seminole State College, shortly after she became employed by the Chickasaw Nation where she remained a beloved and dedicated employee for 27 years holding her final position as the School to Work Program Office Coordinator.

Aminah enjoyed putting smiles on the faces of everyone she loved and anyone she felt could use uplifting; she did this in various ways. She was a gracious gift-giver who enjoyed the practice of paying it forward.

Aminah’s most prized title was that of Mother. She bore two beautiful children, a son, and a daughter who were born into this world with their own set of physical challenges but Aminah rose to every challenge to provide them with the best care and life possible. Aminah was affectionately known as Aunt MiMi to a host of nieces and nephews, by whom she will forever be treasured and missed. She was the second daughter to a trio of sisters who will forever miss and cherish their time with her. In 2021 she met the love of her life, Mr. Charles Brown, and became engaged for marriage to him in 2022.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Mae Richardson-Currie; her father, Jerry Logan Currie-Muhammad; her daughter, Amari Bless Moore and her son, Ahmad Christopher Stanley Moore. Survivors include her father, William Don Cubit, Ada; Fiancé, Charles Brown, Ada; sister, Akilah Dunn, and husband Ruben Dunn, Ada; sister, Atiera Currie, St. Louis, MO; brother, Don Eugene Harris, Ada; brother, William Don T. Wilson, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.
