Services for Mary Joyce Stroud, 83, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Don Venable will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stroud died Monday, March 2, 2015 at a local nursing home. She was born December 30, 1931 near the Lawrence Community, south of Ada to John Sanford and Nellie Ruth Akin Choate. Shee graduated from Horace Mann High School in Ada.

She married Bob Stroud on February 5, 1954. Mrs. Stroud was a switchboard operator for AT & T, retiring after 30 years of service. She later worked for the Department of Human Services. She was affiliated with the Nazarene and Free Will Baptist Churches.

Survivors include her husband, Bob, of the home; a son, Terry Stroud and wife Denise of Tulsa; daughter, Sherree Nelson and her husband Robert of Stockton, CA; four grandchildren, Adam Stroud, Daniel Stroud and wife Allison, Ashlee England and husband Dustin and Blake Sockwell; three great-grandchildren, Kaden, Kylee and Kingston; and her nieces and nephew, Tracy Ballard, Joy Dawn Miller and Mike Choate.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jeffery Choate, John Choate and Bill Choate; a sister, Helen Choate; a nephew, John Choate; and a niece, Katrina Choate.

Bearers will be Adam Stroud, Daniel Stroud, Dustin England, Blake Sockwell, Terry Stroud and Robert Nelson.
