Sylvan "Sib" Frederic Paxson

Services for Sylvan “Sib” Frederic Paxson, 88, of Hennessey, formerly of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Ed Bray will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Paxson died Monday, March 30, 2015 at a Hennessey Care Center. He was born January 8, 1927 at Shirley, AR to Sylvanus Frederic and Susan Lucinda Meaders Paxson. He moved with his family as a small child to Monroe, OK where he graduated from Monroe High School in 1944.

He married Frances Luna Leonard on May 9, 1948 in St. Louis, MO. They soon moved to Ada. She preceded him in death. He later married Francis Gwendlyon Bray on December 27, 1968 in Fittstown. Mr. Paxson worked in various jobs, eventually going to work for Carter Oil Company which became Exxon. He worked in Seminole, Fittstown and Hennessey, retiring in 1986 after 33 years of service. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen, of the home; a daughter, Laura McCormick and husband Mike, Weatherford; granddaughter, Frances Bacon Wilson and husband Eric, Lexington; grandsons, Dale Bacon and wife Kristi, Edmond, Beau Ratke, Owasso and Clint Ratke, Edmond; great-grandchildren, Blake Wilson, Stillwater, Cameron Wilson, Lexington and Kendall and Carter Bacon, Edmond; and two sisters, Faye Hager and husband Lewis, Mercer Island, WA and Sue Davis and husband Glenn, Ooltewah, TN.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances in 1957; a daughter, Peggy Bacon in 2007; son-in-law, Charles Bacon; his parents, Fred and Susie Paxson; a sister, Maxine Timmerman; and a brother, Norman Paxson.

Bearers will be Beau Ratke, Clint Ratke, Toby Cooper, Dale Bacon, Blake Wilson and Derek Stewart. Honorary bearers will be Cameron Wilson and Josh Stewart.
