Services for Zelmadean “Z.D.” Woods Parker, 90, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Friday September 4, 2020 at Central Church of Christ. Bud Ross, Ben Williams and Leon Dennis will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Parker passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 in Edmond. She was born June 7, 1930 in Vera, Texas to Eugene and Gladys Hudson Woods. After moving with her family to San Francisco for two years during World War II, she graduated from Clarita High School in 1947. Upon graduation she moved to Ada to attend East Central State College. She earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Business, Spanish and English.
After graduating, Z. D. worked at Ada’s radio and television stations, KADA and KTEN. She had the distinction of doing the first live program on KTEN called “Guest Room” where each day she interviewed interesting guests. Mrs. Parker taught Spanish and Language Arts at Ada Jr. High/ Middle School from 1970 – 1992.
Mrs. Parker was a longtime member of Central Church of Christ. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Tanti Study Club, Healthy Heart Club and Prime Timers.
Survivors include two daughters, Patti Hager and husband John, Edmond, and Vicki Patton, Ada; her grandchildren, Parker Patton and wife Anna, Kansas City, MO and Payton Patton, Ada; and a sister, Nell Dennis and husband Leon, Ada.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oliver C. Parker on August 21, 2016; a sister, Aline Kite; and brother, Bob Woods.
Bearers will be Sam Kite, Gary Kite, Philip Kite, Tony Stevens, Bruce Dennis, and Brent Dennis.
