Ida Mae (Johnson) Weldon

Graveside services for Ida Mae Weldon, 95, of Thackerville, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, at the Lightning Ridge Cemetery at Roff with Pastor Cary L. Jones officiating.

Mrs. Weldon was born February 23, 1908, at Roff, the daughter of Nathan Lewis and Lula Dean Carlton Johnson. She died Monday, September 29, 2003, at her residence.

Mrs. Weldon had made her home in Roff until moving to Thackerville in 1955. She and James Estelle Simmons were married November 2, 1924, in Roff. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1950. She and Elbert Alec “Shorty” Weldon were married in 1951 in Ada. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1964. Mrs. Weldon was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one son, James Simmons of Thackerville; one sister, Francis Ingram of Arizona; 22 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death was one son, Emery Lee Simmons; five daughters, Mavis Lucille Simmons, Hazel Lee Wright, Ida Mae Simmons, Imogene Harper and Margie Lou Wade; two brothers, Clarence Johnson and Gladys “Gly” Johnson; and four sisters, Alice, Pearl, Dona and Bessie.

Services were under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
