Services for Harvey Ray Shumard, 89, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Revs. Rodger Arter, Terry Pearce, and Robert Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Lightning Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends, on Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Shumard died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at his home. He was born August 22, 1927 in Stonewall, OK to Warren Harding and May Howard Shumard. He graduated from Vanoss High School, and attended Murray State College.

He married Imogene Stephens on June 14, 1947 in Ada. He served in the United States Navy receiving military honors. Mr. Shumard retired as manager of Gilt Edge Farm’s and was a member of the Byng Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene Shumard, of the home; four children, Benny Shumard and wife Susie of Ada, Beverly Hanson and husband Sam of Hugo, Joyce Arter and husband Rodger of Ada, and Ronnie Shumard and wife Tonya of Broken Arrow; one sister, Goldie Henderson of Albuquerque, NM; a sister-in-law, Dolly Crawley, of Ada; fifteen grandchildren, Bryan Shumard of Las Vegas, NV, Melissa McQuiston and husband Ray of Ada, Carrie Davidson and husband Brant of Fletcher, Jenny Powell and husband Kirk of Ada, Christopher Shumard of Florida, Chase Counts and wife Bethany of Tulsa, Jonathan Shumard of Broken Arrow, Todd May and wife Courtney of Perry, Casey Wilson and husband Ronnie of Perry, Emily May of Broken Arrow, Jeremy Grissom and wife Aimee of Roff, Jamie Grissom and wife Rena of Wynnewood, Joni Pierce and husband Gary of Roff, Scott Hanson and wife Heather of Mansfield, TX and Shaunta Dickhouse of Austin, TX; 26 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Melvin, Manuel and Warren Shumard; four sisters, Minnie Brown, Marie Brown, Edith Teel and Beaulah Deatherage, and his father and mother-in-law, David and Georgia Lee Stephens.

Bearers will be Jonathan Shumard, Chase Counts, Ray McQuiston, Brandt Davidson, Beau Spencer and Bailey Spencer. Honorary bearers will be Jon Henderson, David Hodges, Dale Cox and Kirk Powell.
