Services for Baxter Joe Ashford, 79, of Vanoss are 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Lightning Ridge Baptist Church, Rev. Seth Johnson and Bro. John Hooser will officiate. Burial will follow at Lightning Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Ashford passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at his home. He was born July 17, 1939 at Paris, TX to William Glenn and Elsie Lavada Matthews Ashford. He attended Caddo grade schools and graduated from high school in Borger, TX.
He married Jessie Dee Kelly June 6, 1959 at Stinnett, TX. She preceded him in death February 9, 1992 at Waurika, OK. Mr. Ashford was an airplane mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base until his retirement. He then moved to Vanoss.
Mr. Ashford was a member of the Vanoss Volunteer Fire Department; a member of the Grand Lodge of Oklahoma AF & AM Stratford #118 and Roff Lodge #169; and a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
Survivors include three daughters, Vicki Jean Hardcastle and husband Adam of Eureka Springs, AR, Karri Lynn Veach and husband Archie of Green Forest, AR, and Traci Dawn Wright and husband William of Rolla, MO; a brother, Windell Ashford and wife Pam; his grandchildren, Amber Hardcastle Herrera, Darwin Potter, Patrick Potter, Jessalyn Ashford and A.J. Veach; his great-grandchildren, Ryan Herrera, Auna Herrera, Kira Sharpes, Diamond Potter, Emerald Potter, William Zeller, Ara Zeller and Jensen Ashford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Billy Ashford; sister, Diann Ashford; and a grandson, Aaron Hardcastle.
Bearers will be Adam Hardcastle, William Wright, Archie Veach, Ronnie Mackie, Darwin Potter, Patrick Potter, and Ryan Herrera.
