Services for Homer Reese Scott, 96, of Ada are 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Southwest Church of Christ, Floyd Kaiser will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery near Stonewall. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Scott passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at his home. He was born October 2, 1921 near the Owl Creek Community to Alex Bailey (Jack) and Emma Florence Reese Scott. He lived in this area all his life, attended Owl Creek grade school and graduated from Stonewall High School. He also attended East Central University.
He married Bessie Dean Harlan March 4, 1946 at Tishomingo. She preceded him in death January 8, 1996. Mr. Scott had been an insurance adjustor with General Adjustment Bureau from 1948 1957. In 1957, he began making water skis at Roff. In 1970, he moved his plant, Scott Manufacturing Company to Ada and manufactured church furniture. He was a longtime member of Southwest Church of Christ and he helped form the Haitian Orphanage Ministry at Southwest Church of Christ. Mr. Scott served in the U. S. Navy from December, 1943 to July, 1944 and the U. S. Army from December 1944 1946.
Survivors include two daughters, Redena Lee and husband John and Debbie Willis and husband Mark, all of Ada; a son, Ron Scott and wife Judy of Kemah, TX; sister, Mary Etta Platt of Broken Arrow; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Fern Lewis; a grandson, Chris Edward Lee; and a great-grandson, Chance Scott Bowker.
Bearers will be his great-grandchildren.
