Services for Velta Lucille Wingard, 88, of Fitzhugh, are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Rev. Steve Wilburn and Rev. Chuck Nordean will officiate. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wingard died Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Iris Memory Care in Edmond, OK. She was born October 19, 1935 in Vici, Oklahoma to Lynn Harold and Bertha Eloise Dalrymple McDonald.
She married Harold Gene Wingard on January 22, 1956 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2008. Mrs. Wingard was a homemaker, farmers wife, sheep shearer, milk maiden, short order cook for anyone Harold brought home, carpool driver, seamstress, costume maker, wallpaper extraordinaire, emergency room denier, and known as “Mama V” with her festive and fiery spirit at Iris Facility.
Survivors include three daughters, Lynda Roberts of Edmond, Sharon Phillips of Roff and Donna Silva of Colorado Springs, CO; one son, John Wingard and wife Alina of Oklahoma City; one brother, Lee McDonald of Dallas, OR; seven grandchildren, Megan Reid and husband Jacob, Michael Roberts and wife Brooke, Ricky Joe Phillips, Justin Phillips, Taryn Quy, Ava Quy and Evan Quy; and four great-grandchildren, Mason Harris, Paislee Reid, Sutton Reid and Haskell Roberts.
Pallbearers will be: Jacob Reid, Michael Roberts, Ricky Joe Phillips, Chuck Roberts, Mike McDonald, and Larry Young. Honorary Pallbearers are: Randy Davidson, Tom McDonald, Bill McDonald, Dan McDonald, Jim McDonald, and Victor Nordstrom.
She was preceded by her parents; husband; brother, Leo McDonald and two step brothers, Pete and Glenn Miller.
The family says Memorial Donations can be made to Fitzhugh Baptist Church or Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
