Graveside services for Joe Henson, 81, of Francis will be 10:00 Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Francis. Reverend Steve DeShazo will officiate.

Mr. Henson passed away February 25, 2021 at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center. He was born August 3, 1939 at his grandparents’ home in the Cedar Grove Community. His parents were Coy Lonnie and Marie Flora Harris Henson.

He graduated in 1957 from Southeast High School and received a degree from OSU. He joined the Army in 1958 and was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and was a paratrooper with the 101st Air Born Division. He was then transferred to Hawaii for the rest of his time served. After returning home he worked for OG&E and Tinker Field for a time before moving to Denver, Colorado and then to California. He worked for American Totalizer for 25 years.

Joe had a lot of interest in different things. He took classes in glassblowing, pottery, baking, painting, upholstery, auto mechanics, screen printing and many others. He bought a red ‘79 Corvette and still has it. He rode his motorcycle along the border of Canada. His most recent place to live was Laughlin, Nevada. His health started failing there and moved back to Oklahoma in 2009 to stay with family. He made a lot of friends during his adventures who he kept in touch with.

Survivors include a sister Judy Attebery; 6 nieces and nephews, Jerry Attebery and Paige of Francis, David Attebery and Michelle of Francis, Diann Wilson and John of Francis, Danny Stone & Telina of Francis, Lori Johnson & Tony of Allen, and Kayla Ramos of Stonewall; an uncle, Leroy Harris of Francis and numerous great nieces & nephews.

He was preceded by his parents, two sisters, Donna Ramos and Patty Henson; a brother-in-law Glen Attebery.
