Samuel Duerd Sweetin, 89, of Blanco, died December 5, 2022 in McAlester. Viewing will be Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00p.m. at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at Pittsburg Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Ti Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronald Lewis, Jared Sweetin, Curtis Church, James Sweetin, Stormy Cole, Tyler McCoy, Cameron McCoy, and Luke McCoy. Samuel Duerd Sweetin was born to Marvin and Mamie (McCabe) Sweetin in Pounds Valley on March 14, 1933. The family moved to Ti Valley in 1936. Duerd graduated from Kiowa High School in 1951. He married Faye Deen Patton on October 3, 1951 in Coalgate. Duerd was a life-long rancher. He was a longtime member of the Pittsburg School Board, a member of the Pittsburg Baptist Church where he also served as Deacon, and a member of Gideons International. He was preceded in death by his parents: Marvin and Mamie Sweetin; brothers: Gerald Sweetin, Millard Sweetin; and sister: Syble Moore. Duerd is survived by his wife: Faye of the home; daughter: Sonia McCants and husband, Bob of Belton, Texas; sons: Dirk Sweetin and wife, Christina of Blanco, Samuel D. Sweetin and wife, Sue of Ti Valley; grandchildren: Hillary Lewis and husband, Ronald, Lyndi Church and husband, Curtis, Jared Sweetin and wife, Holly, James Sweetin, Stormy Cole and wife, Katelynn, Wacie Nowlin, Wendy Singleton, Debralee Blanco, Leah Blanco, Austin Eberle; great-grandchildren: Finley Church, Sadie Sweetin, Josie Sweetin, Roman Lewis, Rayden Sweetin, Cason Church, Tyler McCoy and wife, Hanna, Luke McCoy and wife, Allyah, Cameron McCoy, Kennedy Sweetin, Emmry Cole, Lincoln Cole, and Maverick Cole; great-great-grandchildren: William McCoy, Lincoln McCoy, Noah McCoy, Kennedy McCoy, Lacie McCoy, and Emiline McCoy; sister: Fern Downey of Perkins; special friends: Mary Sweetin and Tena Sweetin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
