Brent DeWayne Sweetin, 70 of Ti Valley died Thursday, April 9, 2025 in Ti Valley. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Ti Valley Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Jim Davidson. Burial will follow at Ti Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Robert Bruner, Marvin Sweetin, Kenny Sweetin, Hunter DeWayne Sweetin, Jeff Sweetin and Dusty Vickery. Honorary pallbearers will be, Rick Griffin, Larry James and Rusty Porter. Brent was born on October 4, 1954 in Guymon, Oklahoma. Brent was very proud of his Sweetin family heritage. He graduated from Pittsburg High School and went on to attend and play basketball at Grayson County Junior College in Denison, Texas earning an associate's degree of business administration; the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, Texas and Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant completing a bachelor's degree in accounting and management in July of 1978. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in July of 1977. After graduation and military service, Brent began his professional life working for the Choctaw Electric Coop in Hugo as the accounting supervisor from 1978 to 1980. He then worked for The Boeing Company in Wichita, Kansas from 1978 to March of 1993 as the finance manager. Looking for a change of pace he started working in sales for Grayson Motors in Denison, Texas from 1994 to 1995. He then accepted a position with the Parcel Service Company in Denison where he worked as the director of finance and accounting. In May of 1997, he decided that he missed working in the auto industry and began working for Fenton Motors Group/ Sam Wampler's Freedom Ford in McAlester where he was responsible for sales, floor manager and sales training. He loved the interactions with his customers and co-workers. He also had worked as a recruiter for Triad Transport in McAlester. Brent enjoyed the solitary life, hunting, fishing and being with nature in the great outdoors. He was very proud of his high school and collegiate basketball career. Brent loved his family and was always bragging about them to others. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Jo (Church) Souther; brother, Timothy Sweetin; sister, Susan "Susie" Benson; grandparents, Britt and Irene Sweetin; Harvey Church and Waunette and Duke Johnson; uncles, Jiggs Sweetin and Knox Sweetin. Brent is survived by his parents, Max Dual and Peggy J. Sweetin of Ti Valley; daughters, Waunette Irene Sweetin of Tahlequah, Kaitlyn Sweetin of Kansas; grandchildren, Hunter DeWayne Sweetin, Rebekah Griffin, Jozelyn Ketcher, Jack Sweetin; sister, Vickie Wills and husband, Okie of Plano, Texas; nephews Jerimy Wills, Kerrie Wills, other nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. Brent will be missed but not forgotten.
