Jimmy Dale Thomason, 84, of Canadian, died Tuesday, January 6, 2025, in McAlester. Viewing will be held Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2025, at Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick. Burial will follow at Tannehill Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps. Pallbearers will be Bill Pemberton, Roger Holt, Shannon Edwards, Kyle Moody, Andy Thomason, Jesse James and Isaac James. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow members of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church. Jimmy Dale was born March 17, 1941, in Hartshorne to Andrew Jackson and Sarah Marie (Hogue) Thomason. He graduated from Hartshorne High School and from 1960 to 1964 proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He married Mary JoAnn (Painter) Dobbs Thomason, and together they shared over 60 years of marriage. Jimmy owned and operated Thomason Concrete Company for several years, retiring in 2019. He was well known for his exceptional concrete finishing skills. In his free time, Jimmy enjoyed fishing and watching football, especially cheering for the Oklahoma Sooners. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson and Sarah Marie (Hogue) Thomason; a son, Jerry Dobbs; a grandson, Justen Dobbs; and his brothers, Bill Thomason, Jerry Thomason, Floyd Thomason, Bob Thomason, Ed Salas, Leon Salas; sisters, Josephine Conaway and Ruby Lee Sands; nephew, Noconna Bennett. Jimmy is survived by his wife, JoAnn Thomason, of the home; granddaughter, Katrina Holt and husband Roger; great-grandchildren, Raelynn Holt and Harper Holt; sister, Mary Laudermilk; brother, George Thomason and wife, Mona; brother-in-law, Jimmy Painter and wife Carol; sister-in-law, Brenda Hembrock; special friends, Bill and Carol Pemberton; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
