Frank Clifford Short, also known as Buddy, 84, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away on April 11, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the Tannehill Cemetery Pavilion. Frank was born on February 25, 1941 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Frank James Short and Ola Marie (Davis) Short. Buddy was one-of-a-kind, and one of the last old school cowboys. He enjoyed horses, hunting deer and coons, and fishing. He enjoyed attending auctions, and trained as an auctioneer. Buddy was one of the wittiest wise-crackers around, always having a quick comeback. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carole (Dyer) Short; his father, Frank James Short; his mother, Ola Marie (Davis) Short Bass; his grandson, James Lee Short; great grandsons: Lane Crawley, and Axtyn Short; his brother, Billy Short; an infant brother; and son-in-law, Jerry Mullins; and the mother of Talitha and Tonya: Nikki (McGee) Short. Frank is survived by his children: Jeanette Mullins, James Short, Sarah Crawley, Buddy Short and wife, Wynona, Talitha Beshear and Trent Campbell, and Tonya McGee; grandchildren: Brandin Short, and wife, Becka, Amber Crist and husband, Kelly, Crystal Brown and husband, Matt, Christopher Short, Dixie Don Short, Frankie Gene Short, LaTisha Dumire, Stephanie Crawley, Tabitha Crawley, Tiffany Pettinato, Jeffery Short and wife, Lindsey, Justin Short and wife, Nikki, Cassie Lawson, Chevy Beshear, Rodie Campbell, Nick Johnico, and Gavin Russell; his great grandchildren: Brandin Short, Jr, Trinity Short, Parker Crist, Nathan Crist, Jacob Brown, Kaleb Brown, Andyn Short, Christian Short, Maryn James Short, Ladyn Kay Short, Tison Johnson, Lilliana Dumire, Kinsley Dumire, Allie Lawler, Hayden Lawler, Madison Lawler, Bailey Winman, Brock La Rue, Aubrey Pettinato, Owen Pettinato, Frankie Pettinato, Gus Pettinato, Creeklee Beshear, Timber Short, Scout Short, Jettson Short, Greyson Short Novaleigh Lawson, Tayden Herrin, Acelyn VanAtta, Priscilla Short, Austyn Queen, and Gracie Jo; his brother, Jimmy Short; and the mother of Jeanette, James, Sarah, and Buddy: Judy (Stewart) Hammer. Buddy loved his family and friends, and our hearts ache with his passing, and he is already missed.
