Betty Sue Petty, 80, of McAlester died Saturday, peacefully at her home. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at the Tannehill Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick officiating. The burial will follow at Tannehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cody Petty, David Williams, Josh Amos, Daniel Amos, Justin Ardese, and Summer Copple. Honorary pallbearers will be Derek Wills, Jason Williams, Terry Riley, Joey Vaughn, and Tristen Williams. Born on January 18, 1941 in Poteau, she was the daughter of Granville and Lula (Campbell) Queen. She grew up in Wister where she was in the marching band and played the clarinet. She also was on the basketball team. Betty graduated from Wister High School. She married Donald Lee Petty, Sr. on June 17, 1958. They moved to McAlester, then Tannehill where she spent many years watching her children grow up. She and Don attended nearly all of their ball games. She was of the Baptist faith and church pianist in her younger years. Her main joy in life was spending time with her family, children and grandchildren. Betty loved spending time outdoors mowing and gardening. She worked at KiBois and Self-Help Housing for many years. She is survived by two children: Nancy Copple of McAlester, and Butch Petty and wife, Carrie of McAlester; her grandchildren: Amanda Harrell, Justin Ardese and wife, Emily, Cody Petty and fiancé, Cierra, Rebecca Vaughn and husband, Joey, Derek Wills, David Williams and wife, Shanna, Crystal Williams, Josh Amos, Summer Riley and husband, Terry, Stacey Harvey and husband, Travis and kids, Dillon Roberts, and Daniel Dibble and wife, Shelby; numerous great grandchildren including: Brookelyn, Grant, Madison, Ella, Samuel, Caroline, Everly Jean, Michael, Chloe, Jasmine, Rayne, Tristen, Valerie, Jason, Daniel, Alex, Colton, Faith, Ryder, and Gage; two great grandchildren: Olivia and Owen; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Petty, Sr; two daughters: Jeanie Williamson, and Janet Wills; her parents: Granville and Lula Queen; her brothers: Buck, Grady, Howard, and Bill Queen; two sisters: Mary Queen, and Mildred Queen; and a grandson: Keith Williamson.
