Wesley Don Martin of McAlester passed away from this life on August 26, 2021 at the McAlester Regional Health Center. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at The Expo in McAlester with the Reverend Chip Lott officiating. Burial will follow at Tannehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bubba Smith, Steve Powell, Rex Hatridge, Brandon Turney, Tyler Martin, and Garrett Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Kurt Whiteside, Mike Workman, Chris Morris, Lloyd London, Kenny Bennett, Steve Nave, Jeremy Thomas, Larry Coxsey, Chris Kelley, Bobby Coggin, and Todd Monks. Wesley Don Martin was born in McAlester on May 28, 1970 to Ronald and Shirley (Wingo) Martin. Wesley attended Indianola High School where he graduated with the Class of 1988. He married Carrie Lee McAdoo on February 22, 1991. Wesley worked for PSO as a Supply Chain Supervisor for the McAlester and Lawton Districts of Operations for the past 17 years. Previously, he worked for the Oklahoma State Penitentiary. Wesley Don never met a stranger. One of his friends said, "he was like gravity, everyone was drawn to him." Wesley loved being a Poppy to his two granddaughters, OU football, coaching little league baseball, riding motorcycles, and drinking beer with his buddies. He is survived by his wife: Carrie Lee (McAdoo) Martin of the home; his daughter: Kelsey Jackson and husband, Wesley of McAlester; his son: Harley Martin of the home; his granddaughters: Acelee Jackson and Sutter Jackson; his mother and stepfather: Shirley and Richard Tollett of Tannehill; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Shirley and James Garrett of Crowder; his brothers: Johnie Dale Martin and wife, Brenda of Hartshorne, Ronnie Wade Martin and wife, Denise of McAlester; his sister: Donna Martin of Enid; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and a host of friends. Wesley Don is preceded in death by his father: Ronald Gene Martin, his maternal grandparents: J.E. and Ruth Martin, and paternal grandparents: James and Pearly Wingo.
