He was the son of Konrad K. and Margaret Shirley Koch. He attended Poteau Schools and served in the US Army during World War II, receiving many decorations for his service. He married Margaret Hicks on March 1, 1947 in McAlester. He retired from Charles Komar and Sons as a garment cutter after 30 years of employment. He attended the Harvestime Tabernacle in McAlester. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two sons and daughters in law, Edgar E., Jr. and Susan Koch of Mesquite, TX and Charles D. and Nancy Koch of Salt Lake City, UT; a brother and sister in law, Shirley and Bobbie Koch of Ada, OK; two grandsons, Russel Allen Koch of Mesquite, TX and Charles D. Koch, Jr. of Salt Lake City, UT; a cousin, Jeannie Kolofa of Goodland, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Konrad K. Koch, Jr.
