Lemuel "Lem" Theodore Hodges, Jr., 73, of McAlester, Oklahoma died on December 19, 2019 in Wetumka, OK. The funeral service will held at 2:00 p.m. at Chaney's Memorial Chapel with Pastor Brent Jarrett officiating. The burial will follow at Tannehill Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be John Jarrett, Eddie Jarrett, Vecoe Hensley, C.J. Hodges, John Hodges and Dillon Hodges. Honorary Pallbearers will Jarrett Baker and Larry Bernhardt Lem was born on December 12, 1946 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Lemuel Hodges, Sr. and Oleta (Bernhardt) Hodges Sparks. Lem attended McAlester High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1965, he served in Vietnam and received an honorable discharge in 1972. He then attended Eastern Oklahoma State College and received a degree in nursing. He later graduated from East Central University with a bachelor's degree in nursing. Lem worked as a surgery supervisor at the McAlester Regional Health Center. He retired after 31 years of service. Lem is survived by his two children: Clark Hodges and wife, Melony of Guthrie and Barbie Hodges of McAlester; his grandsons: C.J. Hodges, John Hodges and Dillon Hodges all of Guthrie; and his great grand-daughter: Freya Hodges. He is also survived by his sister: Faye Price of McAlester; his aunt: Dorothy Sparks of McAlester; his uncle: James Colvin and wife, Charlotte of Idaho; the mother of his children: Betty Hodges of McAlester; his brother-in-law: Donald Crawley and wife, Teresa of McAlester; nieces and nephews: Karen Hensley and husband, Vecoe, Cindy Pate, Patty Ann Sparks, Selena Srader and Randy Crawley and wife, Nita and a host of other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father: Lem Hodges, Sr.; his mother: Oleta Sparks; his brother: Anthony Sparks and his uncle: Kenneth Crawley.
