Thomas Lee Hendrix, 84, of McAlester, died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Mark Halyard officiating. Interment will be at Tannehill Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Thomas was born March 31, 1930 in McAlester to Crayton Thomas and Myrtle Lee (McCarty) Hendrix. Thomas was raised in McAlester, leaving only to serve in the U.S. Army. Upon returning home, he worked for the Coca-Cola bottling plant, retiring after a 39 year career. He married Patsy Horn on June 26, 1954 in McAlester and to this union two sons were welcomed: Dennis and Monte. Through the years, Thomas coached his sons’ little league baseball teams and taught them to rope and ride. He also enjoyed raising a few horses, spending time on his “ranch” fishing and coon hunting. He is survived by his sons: Dennis Hendrix and wife, Rhonda of Milburn, Monte Hendrix of McAlester; grandchildren: James Hendrix of McAlester, Michael Hendrix and Aireal Brown of Wilburton, Toni Hendrix of McAlester, Lisa Wigington and husband, Tim of Durant, Tami Wampler and husband, Cody of Walters, Nikki Northcutt and husband, Jason of Tishomingo, Ashley Austin and husband, John of Durant, Heather Hendrix of Milburn, Helen Turman of McAlester. Also, 16 great-grandchildren, sisters: Betty Martin and husband, Oscar of McAlester, Bessie Ivey of McAlester; and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Crayton Thomas Hendrix and Myrtle Lee (McCarty) Hendrix, and his wife: Patsy Ruth (Horn) Hendrix on April 25, 2006. Pallbearers will be Michael Hendrix, James Hendrix, Jayson Northcutt, Tim Wigington, Cody Wampler, and John Austin. Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Smith.
