Altus Liston Mills, Jr, 71, of Savanna, died Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Bishop Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 20 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Pastor Ed Clark officiating. Interment will be at Savanna Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Altus was born on December 27, 1943 in Sherman, Texas to Altus Liston & Juanita Edwards Mills. He attended school at Savanna, Oklahoma and graduated from Savanna High School in 1961. Altus then attended Eastern Oklahoma State College for a year and then at Southeastern State University for another year. He was a self-employed building contractor. Altus married Connie Slater on October 26, 1961 in Durant. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren most of his life. He loved riding his four wheeler at his cabin in southeastern Oklahoma, and he enjoyed fishing too. Survivors include his wife: Connie Mills of the home; daughters & spouses: Sherri Fabry of Hugo, Shelli & Don Armstrong of McAlester, Sandi & Pat Tapscott of Savanna; son & spouse: Robert & Cindy Mills of Hugo. Also, grandchildren: Jarrod Fabry, Rachael Fabry, Emilee & Ryan Rogers, Tabitha Biafore, Justin Armstrong, Colby Cunningham, Tiffani Holder, David Mills, Ashley Mills; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents & a sister: Johnnie Lou Dupuis. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Steve Forbus, and Nathan Hammer.
