James Lee Harper, 47, of Savanna, passed away Friday, Aug. 23, at his home. Graveside funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 11:00 a.m. at the Savanna Cemetery pavilion with Ronnie Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Keaton Lewis, Mike Whorton, Dusty Vanderpool, Ryan Vanderpool, Steve Jay and Bryan Cattanach. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Harper, Jeff Harper and Keith Boling. James Lee Harper was born on May 2, 1972 in Tulsa to Marvin Lee and Norma Faye (Adkins) Harper. Because of work in the fencing business, James and his family lived in Tulsa and Savanna, but considered Savanna their home, where James has lived the past 30 years. Early on, James helped his dad with the fence building business and then went to work at the Army Ammunition Base as a truck driver for 15 years. In his spare time, James enjoyed hunting and fishing. James is survived by his children, Daniel Harper and wife Brittany of Savanna and Alicia Pope of Arpelar; 4 grandchildren, Brooklyn Harper, Wyatt Harper, Raiden Bennett and Keirla Bennett; his parents, Marvin and Norma Harper of Savanna; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Ruby Harper and Jeff and Casandra Harper, all of Savanna; 2 sisters and 1 brother-in-law, Judy and Bryan Cattanach of Hurley, Mo. and Jackie Adkins of Webber Falls; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lilly Clark and William Harper and Jessie and Fred Adkins.
