Oscar James Greene, 82, of Savanna, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in McAlester at a local nursing home. Viewing will be from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Savanna Cemetery pavilion officiated by Rev. J.T. Carnell. Burial will follow. Oscar was born to Benjamin and Isabell (Jackson) Greene on January 23, 1939 in Paige, Oklahoma. He attended and graduated from Muse High School in 1958. Oscar married Jessie Ray East on July 21, 1958 in Heavener. He was a professional musician and played the steel guitar, fiddle, and other instruments. Oscar played with Ernest Tubbs, Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, Crystal Gale, Susie McEntire, Pake McEntire, Jean Shepard, and several other popular acts. He also owned and operated a local vacuum cleaner store in Savanna for many years. Oscar loved music and was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents: Benjamin and Isabell (Jackson) Greene; wife: Jessie Ray (East) Greene; grandchildren: Tommy Greene, Amy Greene; great-grandson, Thomas Greene; brothers: Charles Greene, Chester Greene; and sisters: Lucille Humphreys, Myrtle Hoover. Oscar is survived by his son: Ronnie Greene of McAlester; daughters: Debra Garrard-Foster and husband, Jim of Stillwater, Linda Miller and husband, Robert of Alderson; grandchildren: Daniel Garrard of Oklahoma City, Paige Morris and husband, Garrett of Stillwater, Shawn Hamilton and Tonya McSwain, both of Savanna; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
