Larry W. James, 65, of Alderson, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in Hartshorne. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Hartshorne with Pastor Jason Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Bache-Red Oak Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Albert Smith, Alfred Smith, Wesley Kirby, Brian Thornton, Robert James and Taylor Kitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Long, John Tissington, Pat Thornton and a special friend, Jimmy Reynolds. He was born on December 21, 1955 in El Paso, Texas to Alva and Ruby (Shelton) James. He served in the U.S. Army and married Karen Kitchell on November 16, 1984 in Belton, Texas. He retired from the Oklahoma State Penitentiary and enjoyed watching movies, working in the garden and taking day trips. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Karen James; step-daughter, Heather Kirby; step-son, Brian Thornton; two brothers, Donnie James and Jerry James; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
