Edith Mae West, 91, of Stuart, died Thursday, November 27, 2014 at a local nursing center. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Bishop Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 2 at the Stuart Church of Christ with Kelly Benson and Chris Rampey officiating. Interment will be at Pryor Cemetery in Stuart. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Edith Mae was born March 20, 1923 in Stuart to Ed & Nannie (Rowe) Null. She was raised in Stuart where she attended White Chimney schools. As a child she and her family attended the Stuart Church of Christ where she was a lifelong member. Edith married Marvin West on December 8, 1938 in McAlester and made their home in the Stuart area. She worked for Elsing’s clothing manufacturing and later JC Penney as a seamstress completing alterations. Later she began working at the McAlester Army Ammunition plant until her retirement. One of Edith’s loves was sewing; she was a member of the Stuart Quilting Group, and enjoyed showing her talent at making quilts for her family. Survivors include her son: Ronald West & wife, Becky of Tulsa; daughter: Pam Kerns & husband, Ricky of McAlester; sisters: Ida Kelley of Stuart, Lola Westfall of McAlester. Also, grandchildren: Eric West & wife, Pam of Stuart, Natalie Maxwell & Danny Teague of Stuart, Adam West & wife, Christine of Bixby, Justin Kerns of Coweta, Shai Kerns of Coweta, Tina Jordan & husband, Duskin of Guthrie, Philip Simmons of Michigan; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Marvin West on June 23, 1969; daughters: Charlotte Simmons -Fields on September 9, 2010 and Louella West on November 15, 1941; son-in-law: Bill Simmons; sisters: Eva Wood and Opal Elms; brothers: Ernest Null, Jerome Null, and Howard Null. Pallbearers will be Gordon Null, Hershel Kelley, Bruce Wood, Charles Null, Steven Null, & Stanley Elms.
