Karen Ann Vaughn, 78, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in her hometown of McAlester, Oklahoma. A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday June, 23, 2025 at North Town Church of Christ in McAlester, Oklahoma. Mr. Randy Walters, Mr. Robert Carey, Mr. Mike Maffeo, and Kelley Benson will be officiating. A burial will follow at Pryor Cemetery in Stuart, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Corey Vaughn, Hunter Bogle, Dalton Hopkins, Ayden Doig, Hayden Vaughn, Ethan Carter, Chris Kennon, Marshall Doig, Axton Kennon. Honorary pallbearers will be men at North Town Church of Christ and men at Stuart Church of Christ. Karen was born on October 24, 1946 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Edgar D. Kelley and Ida Jane (Null) Kelley. A proud graduate of Stuart High School in 1964, Karen's passion for beauty and creativity led her to pursue a career in cosmetology. She honed her skills at a cosmetology school in Shawnee, Oklahoma, where she received her associate degree in 1965. Karen's flair for beauty was evident in her work as a beautician, a profession that allowed her to touch the lives of many with her talent and kindness. Karen's professional journey also included a period of dedicated service in bookkeeping for Kelley Motor Company. Her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering work ethic were hallmarks of her career. It was in Shawnee, the place that shaped her professional life, where Karen met the love of her life. She married her beloved husband on September 3, 1965, in a ceremony that celebrated their shared values and commitment to each other. A devout Christian, Karen was an active member of the North Town Church of Christ and previously Stuart Church of Christ. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges and joys. Karen's love for her religion was evident in her daily life, as she found solace and strength in reading her Bible and living out her beliefs. Karen's interests were as vibrant and varied as her personality. She found joy in quilting and painting. Her artistic talents were a gift to all who had the pleasure of witnessing them. A true connoisseur of comfort and storytelling, Karen enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, where the simplicity of heartfelt narratives mirrored her own approach to life. Karen's legacy is one of love, faith, and beauty-both in the aesthetic sense and in the kindness, she showed to everyone she encountered. Karen is survived by her sons, Stuart Vaughn and wife, Rhonda of McAlester, Kevin Vaughn and wife, Tina of Tishomingo, Brian and his spouse, James Russell Wallace of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Brittni Doig and husband, Marshall, Ashley Kennon and husband, Chris, Haley Bogle and husband, Hunter, Corey Vaughn and wife, Morgan, Hayden Vaughn, and McKynzie Vaughn; great-grandchildren, Dalton Hopkins, Ayden Doig, Oaklynn Doig, Axton Kennon, Everly Bogle, Kadem Vaughn, Lettie Ann Vaughn, and Henry Bogle; sister, Karla Jan Kelley of Mead; brother-in-law, James Vaughn and wife, Glenda of Shawnee; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Karen is preceded in death by her parents, E.D. and Ida Kelley; her husband, Kenneth L. "Kenny" Vaughn; grandson, Tanner Kyle Vaughn; a brother, Hershel Kelley; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Kelley and Darelene Lamascus.
