Hosea Walker Jr. was born to Hosea, Sr. and Veltee Fulsom-Walker Nov. 3, 1935 in Ft. Townson, Oklahoma. He was the second of 13 children born to this union. The family eventually moved to McAlester, Oklahoma where Hosea, Jr. was known as "Man". He attended school at L'Overture School and dropped out after the eleventh grade and joined the Air Force. He spent 20 years in the Air Force and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, overseas in England and South Korea. He was also stationed at Tinker Field in Oklahoma, as well as Altus. After retiring from the Air Force, Hosea, Jr. worked for many corporations including Hughes, Boeing, FAA and others. "Man" accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized in a creek at Ft. Townson, Oklahoma by Rev. Gassoway in 1943. When the family moved to McAlester, he first attended Holy Temple COGIC under Rev. Pitts, and later Mt. Triumph Baptist Church under Rev. Hawkins. There he formed a singing quartet along with Claude Thomas, Charles Thomas and Bubba Hawkins. They sang all around the McAlester area, singing for the Lord. He was called to a healing and deliverance ministry and was licensed to preach in Arizona. After moving back to Hugo he worked under Rev. Brown, Rev. Gaffeny in the Hugo area, as well as New Bethel Baptist Church in McAlester with his brother, Pastor Grover C. Walker. He also worked in the Feed the Hungry Ministry in the Lompoc, California area. On March 1, 2017, Hosea, Jr. made his transition from Earth to Glory in Bonham, Texas, which freed him from all suffering and pain and to take him to his heavenly rest. Hosea, Jr. is now safe in the Master's hand. He was preceded in death by: both parents, Hosea Walker, Sr. and Veltee Fulsom-Walker; Five brothers: George, James, Roy, Isom and John; One sister, Lutee Walker-Jones. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Elmora of the home; one daughter, Shelia Walker, one adopted son, Terry Walker; three step children, Danyella White, Rickey White and James White, acquired to him in his present marriage to Elmora, four brothers: Charles A. Walker (Wanda) of Kansas City, Missouri, Leonard and Jasper Walker of Oklahoma City, Pastor Grover C. Walker (Ruby) of McAlester, OK; two sisters: Polly Jo Walker-Curtis (William) of McAlester, Oklahoma, Brenda Walker of Kansas City, Missouri and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be: Sam Butler, Al Smith, Tommy Braxton, Rico Burris, Everett Phifer, Jasper Walker, Leonard Walker and David Anderson. Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at North Town Cemetery, McAlester, Ok.
