Coy Mack Turney, Sr, 87, of McAlester, Oklahoma died on Monday, July 12, 2021 at the McAlester Regional Health Center. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021 at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home. The burial will follow at North Town Cemetery in McAlester, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Ray Brewer, Allen Boatright, Seth Lawrence, Sr., Seth Lawrence, Jr., and Stacy Zachary. Coy was born on April 4, 1934 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Earl Turney and Virgil (McCarty) Turney. He served in the United States Army from November 29, 1956 to December 1, 1958 when he received an honorable discharge. Coy worked mostly as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. He is survived by his wife: Denese Lawrence-Turney of McAlester; his son: Coy Mack Turney, Jr. and wife, Karen of McAlester; his grandchildren: Hunter Turney, and Carter Turney; and one sister: Nakita Sittel of Eufaula. Coy is preceded in death by his daughter: Melody Richardson; his grandson: Colton Turney; his parents: Earl and Virgil Turney; and a sister: Earlene LaFevers.
