Darlene Woolever-Gore, 100, of Ponca City, OK, left this life on January 4, 2022, at Via Christi Village. A Graveside Ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Memory Gardens Cemetery, McAlester, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave., Ponca City, OK 7461. Darlene was born on September 15, 1921, in Tonkawa, OK, to Horace and Mary (Gallant) Barker. She grew up on a wheat farm Northwest of Tonkawa and loved to read, sew, and do crafts. She attended school in Tonkawa, and later attended Northern Oklahoma College, receiving an Associate Degree in Accounting. She worked as the office manager at Ford Lincoln in McAlester, but during her free time, Darlene loved to travel and would even be on the road for months at a time. Some of her favorite places included Canada, Hawaii, Florida, and the Alaskan Highway. She also went to Washington DC several times to visit the Smithsonian Museum. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, American Legion Auxiliary, and a reading group. Darlene is survived by her son, Charles Woolever of Ponca City, OK, son Richard Woolever and wife, Becky, of Lewisville, TX; daughter Sue Dukesherer and husband, David, of OKC, OK; six grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Mary Barker; first husband, Van Woolever Jr.; baby, Van Woolever, and second husband, Campbell Gore.
