Dan Walters, 80, of McAlester, entered into heaven on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at his home in McAlester. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 with family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Rev. Jerry Burnside and Rev. Bill Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Garrett Walters, Evan Walters, Wyatt Walters, J.W. Hudson, Rocky Hudson, and Andy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Lowery, J.D. Hudson, Kevin Smart, Will Watkins, Brian Cunningham, James Hudson, Kenny Gandee, and Ryan Henry. Dan was born on August 19, 1941 to Gus and Christine (McElhaney) Walters. Dan married Sharon Compelube on February 7, 1964. He was an ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God. He is preceded in death by his beloved son: Vincent "Duke" Walters, his parents: Gus and Christine (McElhaney) Walters, and sister: Lenora Hudson. Dan is survived by his wife: Sharon (Compelube) Walters of the home; daughter: Dana Watkins and husband, John of McAlester; son: Danny Walters and wife, Christi of Tuttle; daughter-in-law: Shannon Walters of Ada; brother-in-law: J.W. Hudson of Grand Prairie, Texas; sister: Loretta Sparks of Irving, Texas; grandchildren: Jennifer, Will, Garrett, Wyatt, Evan, and Taylor; great-grandchildren: Chasen, Jama, Landon, and Owen; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.
