Troyce was born to Howard and Wilma Myo (Hunt) Tolson on January 30, 1946 in Byars, Oklahoma. He graduated from McAlester High School in 1964 and attended Eastern Oklahoma State College. Troyce proudly served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard 45th 1st Battalion, 180th Infantry for 6 years. He was proud of his service and was a true patriot that loved our country. He married his first wife, Tonie on March 4, 1966 in McAlester and they were married for 29 years before her death in 1995. He then married Pat Stone on April 12, 1996 in McAlester. He would refer to Toni as his angel in heaven and Pat as his angel on earth. He loved both of his wives very much. Troyce owned and operated Tolson Welding Supply for many years. After selling the business he worked for McAlester Schools as a bus driver and also as a para professional for special needs children. He never liked the term "special needs" because he felt we all had needs that were different. His students loved and respected him, because Troyce treated them with dignity and respect. Troyce was a Christian man of faith; he never complained and lived a life serving others. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of McAlester, where he served as a Deacon for over 40 years. He taught boys Sunday school class for many years. He was a tireless volunteer for the Annual Christmas Community dinner for over 30 years. Troyce was an avid football fan! His favorite teams are the Dallas Cowboys, the OU Sooners, the OSU Cowboys, the Kansas City Chiefs and of course, the McAlester Buffaloes. Troyce loved people and he never met a stranger. He always had a smile on his face and a joke to share. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing and woodworking. Troyce enjoyed life, his family members and many friends. Troyce was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Wilma Tolson; and his first wife, Tonie Tolson. He is survived by his wife, Pat Tolson of the home; beloved fur baby, Odie; sons, Ryan Young and wife, Karistin of Joplin, Missouri, Kevin Tolson of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Annslee Young, Cross Young both of Joplin, Missouri; brother, Gary Tolson of Seminole; sister, Priscilla McKinney and husband, Buck of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Reba Sue Miller and Dottie Stone both of McAlester, numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing staff at Heartland Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Troyce in his final days. Your kindness, dedication and support will never be forgotten and we are forever grateful. "No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind. Troyce will be missed, but not forgotten."
