Sammy Lee Spencer, 79, of Krebs, died Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at his residence. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2021 at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery officiated by Mrs. Suzie Stephens. Burial will follow. Pallbearers will be Cameron Johnston, Michael Pearson, Glen Jones, Johnny Jones, and Jim Spencer. Sammy was born to Sam and Willie Frances (McLaren) Spencer on October 16, 1942 in Antlers. He attended school in Antlers, and then served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a plumber and in the oil field. In 1965, Sammy joined his father-in-law's earthmoving business which later became Sammy's Dozer Service that he owned and operated for 50 years. He assisted in constructing Lake Dardanelle in Arkansas and Sardis Lake in Clayton. Sammy enjoyed flying R/C airplanes and he loved to fish. He enjoyed singing karaoke. Sammy impersonated Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. When performing he was known as "Johnny No Cash." He was preceded in death by his father: Sam Spencer; mother: Willie Frances Beard; brother: Frank Spencer and his wife, Willa; and sister: Betty Jean Gatlin and her husband, Jimmy. Sammy is survived by his wife of 16 years: Cherri Spencer of the home; son: Bryan Spencer and wife, Courtney of Krebs; stepdaughter: Jennifer Johnston and husband, Cameron of Bennington; stepson: Michael Pearson and wife, Kim of Wilburton; he was lovingly known as "Papoe Sammy" to his grandchildren: Jillian Spencer, Adeline Spencer, Ayden Spencer, Ethan Pearson, Natalie Pearson, Bryce Pearson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
