Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Shackelford, of McAlester, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 in McAlester at the age of 88. Betty was born to Frank Rock and Agnes Josephine (Roddy) Santino on December 29, 1927 in McAlester. She grew up in McAlester. Betty married Earl Shackelford on August 10, 1947 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She enjoyed being outside, cooking for her family, puzzles, singing, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. Betty is survived by her sons: Jerry Shackelford and wife, Gail of Newcastle, Earl Shackelford, Jr. and wife, Vonda of McAlester; daughters: Debbie Rosebure and husband, Gary of Wilburton, Emily Ann Sutterfield of McAlester. Also, grandchildren: Tina Vaughn and husband, Kevin of Tishomingo, Lisa Ingle and husband, Pat of Guthrie, Tim Kunze of Oklahoma City, Natalie Green and husband, Darryl of Ada, Alicia Shackelford and Dillion Baker of Calvin, Zac Rosebure and Brittany McKenna of Wilburton, Cara Blansett and husband, Kevin of Wilburton, Sarah Parker and husband, Mitchell of Crowder. And also numerous great-grandchildren; brothers: John Santino of Ashland, Glenn Santino and Lavonna of Krebs, Danny Santino of McAlester; sister: Agnes Richmond of Gibbstown, New Jersey; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Agnes Santino; husband: Earl Shackelford, Sr; son: Robert “Bobby” Shackelford; granddaughter: Alison Kate Shackelford; great-grandson: Tanner Kyle Vaughn; sisters: Eleanor Chivleatto, Margie Batty, and June Santino; and a brother: Frank Rock Santino, Jr. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 19 at Bishop Funeral Service. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 20 at Bishop Chapel of Memories, officiated by Pastor Doug Brothers. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Santino, Joel Wingo, Michael Parker, Kevin Blansett, Mitchell Parker, Larry Winters, and David Killebrew.
