Zula Reese, 91, of McAlester, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 in McAlester. The family will greet visitors on Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Rev. Brian Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Zula was born on February 15, 1930 in Hobart, Oklahoma. She graduated from Hobart High School in 1948, and married Wayne Rogers Reese on May 27, 1950. They were married 63 years before his passing on October 26, 2013. Zula was a member of Eastern Star and lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of McAlester where she worked with children for many years. She was a homemaker for most of her life, but also worked as a teacher's aide and during holiday season was a clerk and gift-wrapped presents at JC Penney. Zula enjoyed reading, watching television, and drawing. She also loved knitting gifts for her family, seeing pictures of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and playing Yahtzee. Zula is survived by her sons: Roger Reese and Brent Reese; grandchildren: Natalie George and husband, Clinton, Kristin Stires and husband, Dave, Justin Todd and wife, Hope; and great-grandchildren: Christian George, Henry Stires, Summer Todd, Jade Todd, and Dean Todd. Zula was preceded in death by her husband: Wayne Rogers Reese, her daughters: Jana Lynne Reese and Vicky Diane Todd, and son-in-law: Gary Todd.
