Earlene Cummins, 92, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A viewing will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A graveside service will be 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in McAlester, Oklahoma. Louis R. Reynolds will be officiating. Earlene (Sanders) Cummins was born on January 21, 1933, in Scipio, Oklahoma, to Earl Sanders and Irene (Grantham) Sanders. Earlene married the love of her life, J.T. Cummins, in McAlester, Oklahoma. Together, they journeyed across the country, living in various states—from Texas to Georgia—while J.T. worked in civil service following his military service. They were blessed with one daughter, Kristi. Eventually, the family settled in McAlester, Oklahoma, where they made their home. Earlene dedicated many years to the McAlester school system as a cafeteria cook and manager, working at Will Rogers, Puterbaugh, and Eugene Field schools until her retirement. She was known for her warm smile, strong work ethic, and kind heart. In her free time, Earlene loved gardening, fishing, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She was a proud and active member of the Ladies Auxiliary Club in Krebs, Oklahoma, and also participated in the Eastern Star Club. Earlene will be remembered for her generous spirit, unwavering dedication to her family, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her. Earlene is preceded in death by her parents, Earl Sanders and Irene (Grantham) Sanders; her husband, J.T. Cummins; a brother, Charles Sanders. Earlene is survived by her daughter, Kristi Roberts and her husband, James of Claremore; granddaughter, Jamie Roberts and her partner, Brandon Comer of Claremore; great-grandson, Atlas Comer of Claremore; sisters, Onita Ditchavage of Phoenix, Arizona, Evelyn Davis of McAlester; a sister-in-law, Myra Sanders of McAlester; along with numerous other family members and friends.
