Coy Gene Adams, age 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 6, after his courageous battle with Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer. His son, Jason (and his wife Monica) were with him in his home when he passed. Coy’s celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Living Word Church in McAlester with Pastor Terry Lanham officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester. Coy was born on January 7, 1940 in McAlester to Robert Lee and Violet (Conley) Adams. He married Dorothy Ann Thompson on May 18, 1960, and she preceded him in death. Coy was a devout Christian whose faith, family and friends were held extremely close to his heart. He was a member of the Living Word Church for over 25 years, and he also served in the National Guard and the Army Reserves. Coy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Monica of San Diego; a son-in-law, Darrell Miller and his fiance' Janet Forehand; grandchildren, Krista Barlow and her husband Adam, and Skylar Higbee and her husband Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Rylee, Jaden and Ethyn Barlow; a sister, Carolyn Kulak of McAlester; a brother, Homer Adams of Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Coy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Ann Adams; a daughter, Gina Miller; sisters, Zona Baker, Eulema Grubis; and brothers, Robert, John and Richard Adams. Active pallbearers will be Jason Adams, Darrell Miller, Bill Rowell, Jeff Thompson, Adam Barlow, and Jeremy Higbee. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Bill Wynn, Dr. Jim Dunagan and Clinton Collins.
