Johnny A. Bernasky, 75, of Hartshorne, died Friday, August 1, 2014 at his residence. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 3 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hartshorne. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 4 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Hung Le as celebrant. Interment will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Hartshorne. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Johnny was born on August 13, 1938 in Hartshorne to Steve and Josephine (Sitter) Bernasky. He graduated from Hartshorne High School with the Class of 1956. He joined the U.S. Navy. Johnny graduated from Eastern Oklahoma State College. In 1971, Johnny married Carol Jones and enjoyed 43 years of marriage. Johnny began working at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in 1959 and retired in 2005 after 46 years of service as a machinist. He was an avid Yankees baseball fan and played semi-pro baseball in his youth. Johnny enjoyed growing his vegetable gardens and his "moo" cows. He was a lifetime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Hartshorne. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife: Carol Bernaksy of the home; daughters: Amy Reynolds and husband, Monday of Azle, TX, Misty McCabe and husband, Jason of McAlester; grandchildren: Madison Reynolds, Lauren Reynolds, Connor McCabe, Aubrey McCabe. Also, brothers: Robert Bernasky of Hartshorne, Teddy Bernasky and wife, Janet of Hartshorne; sisters: Delores Klein of Big Springs, TX, Elizabeth Flesher and husband, Lloyd of McAlester, Mary Stizza and husband, James of McAlester, Molly Homer of Paris, TX; brother-in-law: Eddie Jones of Dow; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents: Steve and Josephine Bernasky, brother: Wallace Bernasky, and brothers-in-law: Leo Klein and Frank Homer. Pallbearers will be Jerry Few, Bobby Klein, Ronnie Kubiski, Bryan O�Dell, David Roberts, Jr., and Jeff Ranallo. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Martin, Michael Martin, Brad Martin, Will Mordecai, Mike Peigare, David Roberts, Sr., John Bolt, Patrick Bolt, and Mike Belusko.
