Billy Joe Morrow, 79, of Hartshorne, died Thursday, Feb. 10, at his home in Hartshorne. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in Hartshorne. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 14, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pittsburg First Baptist Church, with his brother, Pastor Kenny Morrow, officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne. Pallbearers are James Strickland, Justin Thompson, Dale Motley, Bobby Morrow, Jerry Morrow, B. B. Morrow, and Thomas Morrow. Honorary pallbearers are Joey Morrow, James Smart, and Jim Whiting. Billy Morrow was born on March 2, 1942 in Cambria, Ok. to Joseph Seymore Morrow and Beulah Pauline (Wolford) Morrow-Hartsell. He has lived in the Hartshorne area virtually all his life, except for a short time in Oklahoma City, where he worked at Scrivner Stevens warehouse. He had also worked at the old Naval Ammunition Depot (AAP now), Haileyville Schools, the Haileyville Housing Authority, and had driven a truck for his uncle Carrol Kinnikin. He was also a carpenter and a jack of all trades. Bill married Sherry Watts on Aug. 30, 1969, and she preceded him in death in 2015. Later, in 2019, Bill and Gwen Strickland were married in Pittsburg. Bill was an active member of the Pittsburg First Baptist Church until he became too ill to attend. He enjoyed farming, hunting, and hanging out at the local Hartshorne Feed Store. He also liked to travel with his wife, Gwen, his sister, Judy, and brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Romarie Morrow. Bill served in the Oklahoma National Guard for 6 years. Bill is survived by his wife, Gwen Morrow of the home; his children, Billy Morrow, II and wife Christy, Serena Morrow, Becky Morrow Edwards and husband Dustin, and Tammy Morrow Windsor and husband Eddie; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Romarie Morrow; a sister, Judy Davenport; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sherry; children, Stacey Morrow and Mona Lowman; brothers, Dickie Morrow and Tommy Morrow; and a sister-in-law, Maryann Morrow.
