Emery "Gene" E. Rogers, 78, of Crowder, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 in Eufaula. The viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at the Bishop Chapel of Memories. Due to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions, Gene's funeral service will be held at the Southeast Expo Center at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022 with Reverend G. C. Gray and Doyle Stuart officiating. Burial will follow at Crowder Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Rodgers, Wade Mathis, Ross Selman, Steve Suter, Mike Elrod, and Kevin Osborne. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Mathis, Ronnie Allford, Tommy Wiley, Leo Osborne, Kevin Smith, Jim Mills, Chase Martin, Don Armstrong, and David Spears. Gene was born on March 13, 1943 in Canadian to Ted Rogers and Ruthie (Armstrong) Rogers. He married Ruth Ann Masters on June 1, 1963 in Canadian. Gene served his country in the Oklahoma National Guard for 6 years. He owned and operated Rogers Construction, and served as the Pittsburg County Commissioner for District I from 1999 until he retired in 2017. During that time, he also served on numerous other county government boards. He enjoyed bass fishing, vegetable gardening, cattle, and attending school ball games. He was also a member of South McAlester Masonic Lodge #96. He is preceded in death by his parents: Ted and Ruthie (Armstrong) Rogers; his brothers: Leroy Rogers, Stanley Rogers, Jerry Rogers, and James Rogers; and his sister: Wyvonne Freeman. Emery is survived by his wife of 58 years: Ruth Ann (Masters) Rogers; his son: Charles Rogers of Crowder; his daughter: Jeana Osborne and husband, Kevin of Norman; his grandchildren: Bobby Laughlin and wife, Kera, Charlie Rogers and wife, Summer, Mika Osborne, Magan Osborne, Anna McQuay and husband, Jason, and Madison Osborne; his brothers: John Rogers and wife, Linda, Archie Rogers and wife, Kathy, and Teddy Rogers and wife, Dian; 7 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.
