Margie Ruth (Hailey) Higgins Butler passed from this earth on March 22, 2025 in McAlester. Viewing will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church, 500 East Lincoln, McAlester officiated by Rev. Danny Hester, Mr. Aaron Dodson and Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick. Burial will follow at Crowder Cemetery, Crowder. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. Pallbearers will be Dennis Dodson, William Higgins, Dr. Patrick Higgins, Noah Allen, Ryan Dodson and Dillyn Stephens. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons Aaron Dodson, Cash Allen, Clark Higgins, Logan Crosby, Henry Crosby, Benjamin Crosby and Oliver Higgins. Margie was born on August 21, 1933 to Ruth (Anderson) Hailey and Dahlgren Vernon Hailey in Conroe, Texas. She married Loyd "Pete" Higgins in 1952 and after his death, married Earl Butler in 1978. Margie worked outside of the home at Seamprufe and McAlester Hospital, but for the past 47 years was a homemaker. She loved to travel with her husband in their motor home and visited many State and National Parks, and they never failed to stop at garage or estate sales. Margie also enjoyed researching her family genealogy. She was a member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church since moving back to McAlester in 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents Dahlgren Hailey and Ruth Hailey-Rariden; husbands, Pete Higgins and Earl Butler, and a daughter, Carolyn Holdeman. Margie is survived by sons, David Higgins and wife, Toni of Norman, Randy Higgins and wife, Kathy of McAlester; son-in-law, Brad Holdeman of Goddard, Kansas. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Amy Dodson and husband, Dennis of McAlester, Michelle Crosby and husband, Matt of Castle Rock, Colorado. Dr. Patrick Higgins and wife, Penny of Memphis, Tennessee, William Higgins of McAlester, Jennifer Holdeman of Wichita, Kansas, and Erin Allen and husband, Noah of Norman; 13 great-grandchildren, Aaron Dodson, Ryan Dodson, Avery Higgins, Cash Allen, Clark Higgins, Presley Allen, Logan Crosby, Brady Higgins, Henry Crosby, Ellie Crosby, Oliver Higgins, Benjamin Crosby and Mattie Higgins; sisters, Jeanine Hailey of Oklahoma City; Katie Disnard of Plainville, Massachusetts, other family members and friends.
