Evelyn Lucille (Ramsey) Billy, 86, of McAlester, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in McAlester. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A private memorial will be held, and her ashes will be inurned at Crowder Cemetery at a later date. Evelyn was born May 24, 1939, in Bakersfield, California, to Fred and Amy (Elkins) Ramsey. She grew up in California and later married Neil Copple. Over the years, Evelyn worked hard to provide for her family, serving as a waitress at the Standard Truck Stop in Savanna and several other area restaurants. She also worked at Colonial Lodge Nursing Home and the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant. She later married Lonnie Billy, who preceded her in death. Determined and resilient, Evelyn earned her GED in her sixties and went on to receive an associate degree in criminal law from Eastern Oklahoma State College—an accomplishment she was deeply proud of. Evelyn was a member of 831 Mission Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and working crossword puzzles, but her greatest joy came from the love of her cherished Pomeranians, especially Lucky and Angel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Amy Ramsey; her first husband, Neil Copple; her son, Sammy Copple; her brother, Warren "Sonny" Ramsey; her sister, Anna Jean Niblett; and her nephew, Freddy Ramsey. Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Bobbie Horn of McAlester and Dorothy Sekander and husband, Shafi, of Allen, Texas; her son, Mark Copple and wife, Brandy, of McAlester; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one niece, several nephews, extended family, and many friends. Evelyn will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
