Virginia Pearl (Tolbert) Whinery, 82 formerly of McAlester died Sunday June 8, 2025 in Lewisville, Texas. The family will greet friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2025 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Raymond Wilson. Burial will be at Chambers Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Russell Clark, Brandon Clark, Eric Crow, Alex Swoboda, J.J. Benjamin, Cade Gibbs and Riley Morgan. Honorary pallbearers, Eric Clark, Brett Whinery, Gary Wilson, Robert Kilburn, Bill Benjamin and Brad Young Virginia Pearl was born to Lee Olen and Agnes Lorene (Long) Tolbert on October 18, 1942 in Checotah. She attended Bugtussle school and graduated from McAlester High School. Virginia married Lawrence Harold Whinery in 1965. She worked as a bookkeeper and operator for Beasley’s Answering Service for several years. Virginia was a person of faith and lived a life serving others. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as the Director of the Nursery and taught Sunday school for several years. Virginia's children and her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved to spend time with them. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing bingo and Phase 10, and solving crossword puzzles. Virginia was also a member of the Garden Club. Virginia enjoyed life, family members and her many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Agnes Tolbert; husband, Lawrence Harold Whinery, Sr.; daughter, Michelle Anne Benjamin; sister, Nora Lee Beasley; brother-in-law, Clifford Beasley. Virginia is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Kilburn and husband, Robert, Sheila Wilson and husband, Gary; sons, Lawrence “Bubba” Whinery, Brad Young and wife, Maranda; son-in-law, Bill Benjamin; grandchildren, Michelle Renee; Laura and husband, Alex, Eric, Russell and Danielle, Brandon wife, Summer, Brett and wife, Lindsey, Amber and husband, Eric, J. J. and Elizabeth, Prarrie and husband, Dalton, Summitt and Collin, Jonathan, Brenden, Chris and wife, Shannon, Amy and husband, Mike, Amanda and Cade; 23 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews other extended family members and friends. Virginia will be missed but never forgotten.
