Orville "O.J." Osborne, 67, of McAlester, died Thursday, August 19, 2021 in Gallatin County, Yellowstone, Montana while on a trip with his two siblings. The family will greet friends and visitors on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2021 at Bishop Funeral Chapel of Memories officiated by Dr. Sean DeNike. Burial will follow in Chambers Cemetery where he will be buried next to his mother. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Osborne, Chris Osborne, Blake Best, Kevin Stone, Mitch Lindsey, and Ronnie Schultz. Honorary pallbearers will be Gordon Null, Jimmy Crowl, Greg Archer, Ricky Shipley, Robert Bailey, Robert Womack, Tony Henry, Brent Owens, Tomy Munoz, and Allen Boatright. Orville Jay was born to Moses Samuel Osborne and Lula Pearl (Edmonds) Osborne on August 18, 1954 in McAlester. While growing up, OJ spent time bull riding at rodeos with his brothers and good friends. O.J. graduated from McAlester High School in 1972. He attended classes at Eastern Oklahoma State College. He worked construction and building houses from 1980 to 1987 with his life-long friend, Ricky Shipley. He then worked as a correctional officer for Oklahoma State Penitentiary until his retirement. OJ enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved the fishing trips with his buddies. He truly loved the outdoors and enjoyed the simple country life. Over the last few years, he enjoyed raising his goats and spending time with his son. He was preceded in death by his father: Moses "Sam" Osborne, mother: Lula Pearl Osborne, and brother: Sammy Sterling Osborne. OJ is survived by his son: Ty Osborne of McAlester; sister: Tara Best of McAlester; brother: Chuck Osborne and wife, Brenda of McAlester; sister-in-law: Debbie Osborne; nieces and nephews: Jeremy Osborne and Leslie, Chris Osborne and wife, Becky, Heath Osborne, Candice Nimrod and husband, Justin, Blake Best, Lauren Best and Jordan Tissington; aunts: Sylvia Moody and Loretta Osborne; and other family members and good friends.
