Nancy Jo (Hamilton) Gibbs

July 3, 1946 ~ April 4, 2013

Nancy Jo "Jody" Gibbs, 66, formerly of Kiowa, died Thursday, Arpil 4, 2013 at Heritage Hills Nursing Center. Graveside memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pittsburg Cemetery in Pittsburg. The Revs. James Crowson and Danny Drake will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.

She was born July 3, 1946 in Prineville, OR to James Taft Hamilton and Jessie Marie (Borden) Hamilton. While an infant, her parents moved to Pittsburg County. She grew up and received her education in Kiowa and graduated from high school there.

She worked for a number of years at Lee's Truck Stop in Savanna as a cook, waitress and dishwasher, some days working at all three tasks while on the job. She enjoyed driving her white Dodge pickup, visiting with neighbors, working word search puzzles and spending time with her son, John. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kiowa.

She is survived by her son, John Wayne Justus of Kiowa; brother, Danny Drake of Kiowa; several half-sisters; sisters-in-law Shirley Justus, Brenda Blue and Patty Jean Justus, all of Milburn; cousins, Gene Gail Housley and Toni Gail Housley, and Michael and Mitchell Wilson of Pittsburg and Angela Desirae Parent and family of McAlester and special friends, Susan Vogt and Heather Starbuck, Darrell Harvey, Jr., George and Karen Johnson, all of Kiowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bill Gibbs; her parents, James and Jessie Hamilton and a brother, Jimmy Gene Hamilton.
