Jessie Dell (Smart) Ely of Pittsburg, Ok died Monday, August 4, 2014 in Coalgate at the age of 96. Jessie was born December 7, 1917 in Celestine, Oklahoma to Jake and Ora (Hodges) Smart. She married Joe A. Ely on a cold snowy day in January 1935. She was a lifelong member of the Pittsburg Baptist Church. Jessie is survived by grandchildren, Joe Ely and wife, Jeana of Blanchard Oklahoma and Lana Boren and husband Roger of Gracemont, Oklahoma, and daughter-in-law, Leona Ely of Pittsburg, Oklahoma. Great Grandchildren; Jorja Ely, Shelby Forbes, Heather Boren, Jessie Boren and Bridget Boren. Great Great Grandchildren Tytan Forbes, Payton Forbes. Numerous Nieces and Nephews and Friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe in 1972; parents, Jake and Ora Smart; and three sons, Coy Ely, Truman Ely, Carl Ely, her sisters; Inez Nelson, Helen Lashley, Tommy Faye Potts, Loretta Johnson, Joy Jimenez, Berniece Glover and her brother J.T. Smart. The Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Pittsburg Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Davidson officiating. Interment will follow at Pittsburg Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Paul Shannon, Bennie Whitworth, Randall Rowland, Larry Griffin, Jason Scott and Johnjoe Kelly. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Joe Ryan, J.N. Smyth, Willie Tucker, Jack Rice, and Gayle Shannon. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Chaney Harkins Funeral Home, McAlester, OK.
