Benny Ray Mauldin, 65, of McAlester, died Sunday evening, September 12, 2021 in Ada. The family will greet friends and visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 17, 2021 at the SE Expo Center officiated by Mr. Oben Weeks, Rev. Bart Patterson, and Rev. Mitch Arteberry with burial to follow in Blue Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Farrell Cunningham, Kevin Luker, Richard Biven, Wade Johnson, Robin Hooser, and Dalton Wood. Honorary pallbearers be Brent Wood, Wes Wood, Jett Wood, Benton Johnson, Kyle Williams, John Moody, Tommy Hill, Alan Murdaugh, Doug Hull, Duston Hull, Johnny Oswalt, Fred Workman, Joe Beck, Ray Fannin, and too many special friends to list them all! In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Cemetery Fund in care of Maria Franks, P. O. Box 36, McAlester, OK 74501. Benny was born to Lloyd and Aligene (Garrett) Mauldin on February 16, 1956 in Holdenville. He graduated from Stuart High School in 1974 and then attended Eastern Oklahoma State College. Benny married Loreta Blevins on October 25, 1974 in Stuart. He began his working carrier as an equipment operator with the I.B.E.W. He then worked for the City of McAlester where he worked for the Street Department in signals and sign maintenance. He then worked for the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant performing railroad track maintenance. Benny enjoyed calf roping and team roping when he was younger. He enjoyed trail riding and camping. His friends and family brought much joy to his life and he enjoyed visiting with them. Benny was a strong man with a big heart who never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lloyd and Aligene Mauldin. Benny is survived by his wife: Loretta of the home; son: Cody Mauldin of McAlester; grandchildren: Aubry Mauldin and Tanner Mauldin of McAlester; sister: Sandra Wood and husband, Larry of McAlester; nephews: Brent Wood and Wesley Wood; special friends: Farrell and Rhonda Cunningham; special cousins: Randy, Danny, and Stan; along with all the other cousins.
