Kenneth Southard, 84, of Ash Creek Community, died on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at his home. Kenneth was born on January 8, 1932 in Krebs to Allen Newton & Anna Bell Rice Southard. He attended schools in Krebs in the early years, attended McAlester High School from which he graduated, and then attended college for a short while. Kenneth married Maxine Mayfield on December 28, 1962 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was with the Oklahoma State Highway Patrol for over 20 years, and much of that time was spent piloting the plane for the Highway Patrol. He then later worked 5 years for the Pittsburg County Sherriff’s Department. Kenneth attended the Ash Creek Union Church. He was a Master Mason at The Solomon Lodge #32 of Krebs. Survivors include 3 sons & a daughter-in-law: Joe & Brenda McBee of McAlester, Keith Edward, Mark Allen and a daughter, Delanna Kay; brother and spouse: Clarence & Kitty Southard of Owasso; sisters: Dot Todd of Holdenville, Clara Garcia of Hartshorne, and Alice Day of Georgia. Also, sister-in-law: Patsy Gonzales of McAlester; grandchildren & spouses: Jimmy McBee, Chris & Jessica McBee, Tony & Carrie Douthitt, Jason & Tori Douthitt, Joe David Stokes, Shane & Pam Stokes, and Shawn & Tammy Stokes; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Maxine Southard; brothers: Doyle Southard and Richard Southard, sisters: Grace Testa and Ruth Ann Treat; and a step-daughter: Donna Stokes. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Ash Creek Union Church with burial at Ash Creek Cemetery. Arvil Hall will officiate. The Honor Guard of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol will act as active pallbearers and present honors. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy McBee, Chris McBee, Tony Douthitt, Jason Douthitt, and Shane Stokes.
